“五一”假期期间，重庆市九龙坡区一家火锅店发生意外事件，一只猫咪从高处坠落掉入露天火锅的热汤中，导致热油飞溅烫伤9名顾客，猫咪自身也严重受伤。
5月6日，火锅店老板表示，掉入火锅的小猫已离世。
据封面新闻报道，记者从重庆瑞派名望动物医院获悉，“五一”因病情恶化，抢救了两个多小时，6日上午失去生命体征死亡。

受伤顾客也已赔偿
事件发生后 ，店主钟先生告诉记者，有9名顾客被不同程度烫伤，他们第一时间将顾客送去医院检查，并进行理赔。9人的衣物和精神损失费共计赔偿13000元，还将承担顾客的后续医疗费。
此外，对两部损坏严重的手机更换新机，周边所有顾客全部免单。

有媒体5月4日实地走访这家火锅店，当时工人正给两个门面安装雨棚，以防再次发生意外。店员告诉记者，发生意外后，店里生意没有受到影响，反而比之前更好了，前一晚有两桌顾客因“落猫事件”专门过来吃火锅。

由于没有监控，钟先生未看清猫咪掉进火锅的经过。在他看来，顾客在店里受伤，赔付是理所应当的，猫咪也受伤了，它同样是一条生命。他此前开过宠物店，喜欢小动物，因此决定全力救治这只猫咪。
据媒体此前报道，钟先生曾表示，因为在“五一”假期以这样的方式与“肇事猫”认识，也征求了广大网友的意见，给猫咪取名“五一”。钟先生表示，如果猫主人前来认领，他们会归还这只猫，但目前还没有人来找，等这只猫康复后，会让其在店里当“保安”，“打工”赔偿费用。
